It has been fifteen years since the end of the Telia War. The world has been divided between the two factions Millenians, who use the new and potentially dangerous mineral Potenzium for their technology, and the Machinists, a faction of citizens who have used their ingenuity to oppose their advanced counterparts. The two sides have agreed on a ceasefire, at the cost of complete isolation from the other.
Rye Daniels, a small town Machinist mechanic, lived a quiet life in High Tier with his grandfather and best friends, Sally and Bach. However, the last embers of the Telia War are staging to engulf the peace that has settled over the land.
This episodic script is set to be released weekly as we follow Rye on his adventure out of High Tier, accompanied by his best friend Bach. Together they will seek what is behind this war that has drastically changed both of their lives.

It comes as no surprise that the title and art are pretty much geared towards technology.To be honest, I wasn't expecting the book to be mostly dialogue and read like a script. That was very different than the expectation I had going in.
While I think some of the characters offer up insight, the story is very quick, hopping from one scene to the next. Some of the names for places or settings in the book are fun. Take COLD STEEL for instance. I dig that.
Otherwise, if you are searching for a fully fleshed out novel then this is not that. But, with it starting out free and turning into a dollar buy...you really cant go wrong.
Its going to be an interesting story when the rest of the episodes are released.

Fantastic read, very quick, but definitely leaving you wanting more. I simply cannot wait for the entire series to be released. The screen play style scripting, makes me hoping for an actual screen play. In my option this would make an excellent TV series.
As an avid book reader I have to say that this book presented a lot of good content. I very much look forward to the advancement of the series
I don't normally read screen plays. I get distracted by the setups. I read the entire book. And it looks interesting. Just not my thing. If you enjoy science fiction in screen ply format you will love this book.
When I lay in my deathbed (hopefully far from now), I will look back on my life and regret certain choices I've made. Saying mean things, eating at Taco Bell twice in one day, saying mean things about eating at Taco Bell twice in one day. However; reading the first episode of the Gear'd series will not be one of those things. This is a thing I am proud of. A choice I'm glad I've made. A choice I'll force my grandchildren to repeat, which actually makes it not a choice anymore. This reading is required. Legally. Read it before you're arrested. Or, in a worst case scenario; before you're in your death bed and reflect back on the mistake of not reading it. Since you made such an awful choice, you're probably in your death bed from eating Taco Bell twice in one day too many times. You fool. Hopefully when you're dead nobody turns you into a robotic dog.
